How it began
They say true love often comes when you least expect it, and for Haide and Jonathan, this was certainly the case. Jonathan had recently moved to Austin from Puerto Rico and happened to see Haide perform with a local band in downtown Austin. Although they didn't meet that night, Jonathan got her name from a friend and found her on Facebook the next day. After a few weeks of fun, playful chats in the DMs, they decided it was time to meet in person and clear up any confusion between his Puerto Rican slang and her Mexican expressions.
What started as a beautiful friendship soon blossomed into something more, and on April Fools' Day, eight years ago, Jonathan asked Haide to be his girlfriend. It didn’t take long for Jonathan to bond with Haide’s parents and siblings, finding common ground in their shared love of family. Later that year, when Jonathan planned a spontaneous trip to Puerto Rico, he invited Haide to join him. Visiting his childhood home and experiencing the warmth and love of his family, Haide knew she had found someone special.
There’s a special kind of beauty in falling in love young—accepting each other for who you are in the moment while trusting that your shared values will guide you through life's changes and growth. Your twenties are a time of deep self-discovery, and while those years can be challenging, true love is rooted in empathy and understanding, making the tough moments easier to navigate. Through life’s ups and downs, and all the transformative experiences we've shared, we have chosen each other, lifted each other up, and been a source of strength when one of us needed it most. We thank God every day for bringing us together and are filled with joy as we look forward to celebrating our union with our closest friends and family.
